Frigidaire Oven F11 Code: Meaning & Fixes
- Meaning
- Shorted key: the oven control detects a touchpad key held down or shorted.
- Can I fix it?
- Sometimes, may need a pro
- Seen on
- Older Frigidaire electric ranges and wall ovens with electronic oven controls. Current Frigidaire ranges show a shorted keypad as F1.
F11 comes from the older generation of Frigidaire electronic oven controls. It usually means the control thinks a touchpad key is stuck or shorted. Frigidaire’s current error code guide doesn’t list F11 at all: on newer ranges the same shorted keypad fault shows as F1. Either way, the first step is the same: clear the code and reset the power.
Try this first
- Press Cancel (Clear or Off on some models) to clear the display and stop the beeping.
- Wipe the touchpad with a dry cloth. Grease or moisture can make a key read as pressed.
- Cut the power for 30 seconds at the breaker, or unplug the range, then turn it back on and set the clock.
- If F11 comes back, write down the code and call for service.
What causes F11
| Cause | What you notice | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Moisture or grease on the touchpad | F11 after cleaning or cooking with lots of steam | Dry the touchpad and let it sit |
| Stuck or failed keypad (membrane) | Continuous beeping or keys acting on their own | Needs a technician to test the keypad |
| Failed electronic oven control | F11 returns with a new keypad | Needs a technician |
Fix it step by step
Tap a step number to tick it off as you go. Ticks stay on this device.
-
Clear the code
Press Cancel to clear the display and stop the beeping. Older models use Clear, newer ones Off.
-
Dry the touchpad
Wipe the control panel with a dry cloth. Don't spray cleaner directly on it.
-
Reset the power
Switch the range off at the circuit breaker, or unplug it, for 30 seconds. Some Frigidaire manuals say to wait 5 minutes. Then restore power and set the clock.
Safety: Switching the breaker resets everything else on that circuit too.
-
Test
Try Bake or Broil again. If F11 repeats, write down the code and stop using the oven.
Safety: If a stuck key turns the oven on by itself, leave the breaker off until it's repaired.
When to call a technician
If F11 comes back after the reset, the keypad or the electronic oven control needs replacing. Frigidaire says to contact your installer if the range was installed in the last 30 days, and to schedule service otherwise.
Questions people ask
Why doesn't Frigidaire's error code guide list F11?
The current guide covers newer controls, where a shorted keypad shows as F1. F11 appears on older electronic oven controls.
Is F11 the same as F10?
No. Frigidaire defines F10 as thermal runaway: the oven is getting hotter than normal. Turn it off and let it cool before using it again.
Where is the model number on a Frigidaire range?
Along the interior side trim of the oven or on the left side panel (open the door to see them), or on the front frame of the storage drawer.
