A microwave error code usually points to the keypad, a door switch, a temperature sensor or the control board. Pick your brand below, or type the code from the display into the search box.

Most searched microwave codes
- SE Samsung microwave Key short error: a touch key on the control panel reads as pressed for more than 10 seconds, so the control treats it as stuck or shorted.
- F3 GE microwave Shorted touch pad: the microwave control reads a touch pad key as shorted or held down. On GE microwave drawers, F3 means a key has been activated for more than 60 seconds.
About Microwave error codes
Some codes clear with a simple reset. Unplug the microwave or switch off its breaker for a minute, then try again. A keypad code can also come from moisture or grease on the touch panel, so wipe it dry before you assume a part has failed.
The checks you can do safely stop at the outside of the cabinet. A microwave holds a high-voltage capacitor that can stay charged after it’s unplugged, so never remove the cover yourself. If a code keeps coming back, or the microwave sparks, hums without heating or runs with the door open, stop using it and call for service.
